CAP001

19 Divisions for Bass Viol

Music from the back of Simpson's 'Division Viol' from the Royal College of Music, London. There are Divisions for Bass Viol and for mostly an unspecified treble instrument (see CAP002 and 003). Some of these divisions are quite difficult. Editing this manuscript was one of thye biggest challenges I had to deal with, as there are not just countless mistakes in the pieces, but whole passages crossed out, scribbled back in again, fingers and hands drawn in to point the player to unexpected places etc.
